How do I become a Luxury Travel Blogger? - Follow these 5 Easy Steps
Step 1: Finding your Niche in the Luxe Travel World
So you wanna be a fancy pants luxury travel blogger, huh?
Well, you're in luck because I'm here to give you the lowdown on how to make it happen.
First of all Bestie, you gotta find your niche. A niche is a specific topic or area of interest that you focus on in your blog. You might think that “luxury travel” is a niche in itself already but that’s still pretty broad.
Are you all about five-star luxury hotels? 🤩
Or do you LIVE for first-class or business flights? ✈️
Maybe you're almost ocd with luxury travel hacks like credit card points? 💳
Whatever it is, pick something you're passionate about. This is actually important else it would feel like “work”. Pick your passion so you can bring your own unique spin on. It'll make it a whole lot easier to come up with content. I’ve been a luxury travel blogger myself for the past 6 years so trust me on this!
Step 2: Optimize Your Luxury Travel Blog with SEO
Once you've got your niche down, it's time to think about SEO (that's Search Engine Optimization for you non-techies). This just means using keywords that people are searching for in your blog posts and meta tags. So for example, if you're a luxury travel blogger, you'll wanna use keywords like "luxury travel blogger" and "luxury vacation destinations." The more you use these keywords, the better chance you have of showing up in search results and reaching a bigger audience. I’ll write more on these topics in the future but for now just remember you need to do your research on keywords related to your niche. Look at other luxury travel blogs aka “your competitors”. Analyze what keywords they are using. There are many ways on how to do keywords research and it would need a whole ‘nother article or a few to explain it all!
Step 3: Making Money as a Luxury Travel Blogger

Okay, now that you've got your niche and your SEO on point, it's time to think about making some dough. There are a bunch of ways to monetize your blog, like affiliate marketing where you promote products and get a commission for each sale made through your unique link. Or sponsored content where you team up with brands like luxury hotels (if you want to focus on those) to create content that promotes their properties. Step 4: Creating Fabulous Luxe Travel Content
So what’s next? Cranking out killer content, that's what! To make your blog stand out in the luxury travel space, you need to create content that is fabulously attention-grabbing, succinctly informative, and luxuriously wowing. Here's a few tips on how to do that:
Tell me your personal experiences: Personal stories and anecdotes make your content more relatable and interesting. Ok no need to tell the whole story of your grandma coming here on the Mayflower like you have seen on those recipe blogs. 😆
Use high-quality images and videos: People responds better to this than a wall of text, so make sure to include plenty of hi-definition, beautiful photos and videos in your posts. Nowadays 1080p for videos is required, 4K is even better.
Spill ALL the tea, honey! 🫖 Make sure to cover all the important details, such as cost, location, and amenities. Give me all the juicy details!
Be honest: If you have a negative experience, don't sugarcoat it. Your readers will appreciate your honesty. You can say it nicely too. No need to be a Karen. There’s no manager here. 😌
Show your uniqueness (talent…ahem!) Bring your own unique perspective and voice to your content. Your audience wants to know what YOU think. If you do this, you'll be well on your way to creating killer luxury travel content that your readers will love. I’m sure of it!
Step 5: Building your Squad and Networking like a Boss
Let me tell you a secret that not many people know or talk about: Connecting with other bloggers and industry peeps can open doors to new opps and collabs! Most people know that having a squad of loyal readers is crucial for making that moolah. That’s why you see travel creators being active on social media like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, and engaging with their peeps. To add to that though, you should reach out to other bloggers and influencers in your niche and team up on content, even attend events and conferences together. Meet up in person if possible. Hold regular meetings even by Zoom or Google Meet. Talk goals, strategies what have you. This will help you build a community of like-minded individuals who are interested in luxury travel and can help you to grow your audience and reach new readers.
